Creative Interview | Lairsey Paper Co.

We have the privilege of working alongside the most talented vendors. We’ve chosen to begin a Creative Interview series highlighting the incredible professionals we’ve come to know and love through our last decade in the wedding and private events industry.

When it comes to local stationers, it's no secret that Kelsey of Lairsey Paper Co. tops the list for us. From her signature breezy hand-lettering style to her semi-custom collections, LPC is a go-to for calligraphy and event paper needs. A member of our own team on and off for years, we know very intimately how much care and love Kelsey puts into her work. She makes the process easy for her clients, has a pulse on the trends, and is always game to add personalized touches to all she does. We asked her to delve into the secrets behind customization, color trends, and how to be eco-friendly, and this is what she delivered:

How can we take a semi-custom invitation and add personality to reflect the client's own aesthetic?

There are so many different ways to personalize a semi-custom invitation to reflect the couple’s style and aesthetic. Of course, there are the more obvious ways through ink and envelope color selections, but my personal favorite is to bring in special embellishments. Using silk ribbon, custom wax seals, or even vintage postage, you can tie in little nods to the couple throughout the paper suite.

What are your favorite ink colors for 2021-2022?

When it comes to ink (and envelope!) colors, I am loving shades of taupe. This modern neutral has been a huge favorite this season, and can compliment just about any wedding design.

If a client wants to go digital or be eco-conscious, but still have some paper, which pieces would you say are most impactful to include?

Digital invitations and announcements have become a huge trend again. Although I am (and will always be) a paper person at my core, I understand how important it is to be conscious of the impact it has on our planet. When deciding what pieces to print and where to opt for digital, I would always recommend printing the Invitation Card and an insert. Be sure to include your wedding website on the insert so your guests can respond through your website, making it even easier for you to manage RSVPs.

Save the Dates and Shower Invitations are great pieces to send digitally. I even offer digital downloads for bridal shower and rehearsal dinner invitations in The LPC Shop!
