Romance in the New South

This editorial took place in the dead of winter at Atlanta’s historic Swan House mansion at the Atlanta History Center.

“New Southern” is a celebration of the South’s deepest wedding traditions such as pomp and circumstance, the bride’s trousseau, and the
ultra-feminine mixed with strong masculine touches, all with a modern twist.

Colors included dove, dust, brulee, rose, moss, and branch. Florals were reflective of the season. Texture and materials included linen, rattan, wood, clear glass, silk, paper, tulle, and stone. The neutral palette and strong focus on texture brought simple beauty in every single detail.

From the stunning couple portraits to the organic ceremony altar to the dinner table, each detail was rich in tradition and symbolic of the South.

Some favorite notables included the spread of delicious cuisine including a relish platter, the flowy details of the gown, the mix of dried and fresh flowers and foliage, and the delicate paper details.
