Staycation Ideas & How to Honeymoon at Home

Whether you're planning to stay local this summer or holding off on the honeymoon until you can make it abroad, we 10/10 recommend a staycation with your other half. Travel may be limited right now, but that doesn't mean you have to skip some quality time with your new spouse. We've got our top Staycation Ideas and a little guide for How to Honeymoon at Home:

Sightsee from Home

Countless museums, galleries, and tourist destinations are offering virtual tours or even streaming live. Schedule an in-home "sightseeing" tour around the city you were planning to honeymoon in, or even a new one you've always wanted to visit. Break out the tour book and pick a few spots. Supposed to go to Paris? Check out the Musée d'Orsay or Eiffel Tower online. You may even discover different sights that weren't originally on the list. There are also zoos and aquariums going digital, so if you can't make it on safari now, you can still check out some of the animal cams. With all of the streaming options available, you can also check out travel shows, movies, or documentaries on your destination of choice.

Choose a Location (and think outside the norm)

Choose a few recipes native to your honeymoon destination and have a romantic meal in. Cook together, try some new foods, and don't forget about dessert. Many of the world's top chefs like Italy's Mossimo Bottura are offering online cooking lessons. Take some inspiration from Netflix's cooking series like Chef's Table or Somebody Feed Phil and get your chef on. If you're not the best in the kitchen or don't have access to all the ingredients at the moment, try to get some takeout or delivery from a local joint. Light a few candles, open a bottle of wine, and toast to the two of you. Don't forget about the cocktails! Missing the beaches of Maui? Make some frozen daiquiris or mai tais. Play bartender and mix up some drinks for each other.

Indulge in some R & R

Just because you're not away from it all that doesn't mean you cannot help each other relax. If lounging on the beach together with a book in hand was top of your honeymoon wishlist, download some new reading material, sit on your patio, and get as close as you can to it. If a romantic and relaxing spa day (or two) were on the itinerary, why not have one at home? Set up a quiet spot in your house for massages and mimosas, draw a bubble bath, or even do matching mud masks. Instead of camping out, camp in! Set up a fort or tent in your living room, pack some snacks, and play cards or board games.

It's more important than ever to connect with your partner, unplug for a while, indulge in some (at-home) self-care, and enjoy some of life's smallest pleasures together, all while staying safe. And in the meantime, you can save up for an even more fabulous trip down the road!
