Jenny + Ben’s Wedding :: February 2014

With a shared love for the arts, we knew that Jenny and Ben’s wedding was going to be a special one. After an entire year of planning and designing, it was finally time to pull their vision together. The February wedding was held at Ambient Plus Studio, a large studio space located in the heart of downtown Atlanta, complete with factory window, high ceilings, and original hardwood floors. Drawing inspiration from Piet Mondrian’s artwork, we used strong black lines and pops of color to create an environment that reflected Ben and Jenny’s personality and style.

The ceremony took place in front of a geometric wooden alter, designed by Kristine Cholakian, and was covered in a gorgeous garland by Gertie Mae’s. More garland trailed along the outside of the chairs, creating a lovely aisle for Jenny to walk down to meet her groom. After the ceremony, guests were invited to the cocktail hour. There, they could find a seat at the mid-century inspired lounge provided by Blue Eyed Yonder, while enjoying passed hors d’oeuvres.  After finding their name and table assignment on paper leaves pinned to clementines, we warmly welcomed the guests into the reception for dinner. The long estate tables were draped with a lush white linen rented from Party Tables. Using varying widths of black fabric strips, we recreated the overlapping lines that Mondrian’s artwork is so famous for. Adorned with gorgeous winter white blooms, kumquats, and greenery from Gertie Mae’s, the tables were modern, yet romantic and filled with candlelight. Hanging above the dance floor was a chandelier designed and created by Simply Charming Socials. The chandelier was wrapped in white fabric with black criss-crossed lines and spilled hanging tea lights to light up the dance floor. Between dinner and dancing, guests were invited to sip on some bourbon at the bourbon bar cart, and then head over to the photobooth set up by Scobey Photography. An old elevator shaft with exposed brick walls decorated with red, orange and yellow spheres made for a perfect backdrop for the photos. Guests enjoyed props of all kinds, including a flamingo hat and welders mask.
